New York Marathon

Only 1 more long run to go before New York

09.29.08 | No Comments

I went out this weekend and forced myself to do another long run but struggled a bit having completed the Anglesey Marathon the weekend before.  I also managed a 6 mile and an 8 mile run in the week with rest days in between and a little bit of gym work.

It took me 2 hours 43 or thereabouts to do 20 miles which I was pleased with but it didn’t feel any easier doing it as I had imaged or rather hoped it would by now.

We’ve got one more long one next week which we will probably drop to 18 miles,¬†then begin tapering down after that.

I seem to have got the gels right anyway, I’ve been trying to Science in Sport GO-Gels, the isotonic ones.¬† I’ve been taking them every 5 miles.¬† They’re not too thick and sweet like the normal gels and didn’t give me any stomach ache.¬† For New York, I think I’ll take 5 for the whole race.
